Peterites in command
St. Peter’s College were in a commanding
position at the end of the first day in their inter-schools under-19
match against S.Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia at Mount Lavinia
yesterday. Thomians were bundled out for 180 runs in their first
innings. Ramitha Liyanaarachchi was the most successful with the
ball (4 for 41). Peterites were 241 for 6 at close of play with the
help of a fine knock of 71 runs by Sachin Fernando. Madushan
Ravichandrakumar took 4 for 57. Rishane Mathangaweera bagged 2 for
47 , taking his 50th wicket in his under 19 cricket career.

Sailors cruise to victory
N.C. Fernando and E.A.C. Sanjeewa of Sri Lanka
Navy SC made sure that they cruise to a convincing 2-0 win over
Saunders SC in the Dialog Champions League stage 20 soccer encounter
worked off at Kelaniya Football Complex on Saturday. It was fishing
in the rough sea for both teams until Fernando found the net in the
70th minute while Sanjeewa scored another one six minutes later.
