Ananda pile up 236

Ananda College, Colombo put up an improved performance to total 236 all out on the first day of their inter-schools cricket match against the strong Trinity College which began at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

T Athulathmudali top scored for Ananda College with a sedate 95 which had 15 hits to the ropes and faced 224 balls.

This was certainly an improved performance by the Anandians after their poor display against Dharmaraja College over the weekend in which they just managed to hang to a draw after being dismissed for 129 and were 92 for 7 when the match ended, still 69 runs away from defeat.

Ananda College: 236 (T Athulathmudali 94, Y Gunatilleke 25, S Samarasinghe 34, Janishka Premasinghe 3 for 58, Akila Jayasundera 4 for 51).

Trinity College: 40 for 1 in 7 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 17, Janishka Premasinghe 12 n.o).
