Gold Buddha statues found at Galnewa temple?

Forty one Buddha statues believed to be of gold were found at the Galnewa Amunugama Bodhiraja Temple last Saturday, Galnewa Police said.

Two persons who arrived at the temple for a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama had found the Buddha statues in a bag at the temple premises. The statues, about one and half inches in height, are in Police custody and will be handed over to the Archaeological Department.

Galnewa Police are conducting further investigations.
