Three cement companies request price hike

The Consumer Affairs Authority says there are three cement companies which have presented applications to the authority requesting a price increase.

Currently, a 50kg bag of imported cement is sold at Rs.750, which is the maximum retail price stipulated by the government and the above companies are requesting an increase of Rs 35.

Tokyo Cement, Ultratech Cement and Lafarge Cement are the companies who are requesting for the price increase and according to them they are requesting this increase because of the escalation in the price of raw materials, they added.
