President visits Ekwemu Sri Lanka workshop
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday visited the workshop
conducted by the “Ekwemu Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka Unity) organization at
Asgiriya grounds, Kandy.
He engaged in conversation with the youth who were taking part in the
workshop.
The workshop is held for student leaders from schools representing
all districts.
It is being held under the theme “We will not let the hatred of the
past control the present and destroy our future”.
The fourday workshop includes a number of programmes intended at
propagating the value of friendship and sharing among attendees.
It is attended by youth representing all religions, ethnic groups and
coming from diverse backgrounds and also student leaders from overseas
schools.
The workshop is attended by student leaders from Congo and Australia
among others.
This is the third occasion the workshop is being held.
Chief of Presidential Staff Gamini Senarath too accompanied the
President on his visit to the workshop at Asgiriya.
The senior advisor to the “Sri Lanka Unites” programme is Jayantha
Dhanapala and the Chairman is Prashan Asiri. |
