Drug dealer nabbed

Excise sleuths arrested a drug dealer in Mannar with heroin worth Rs 2.5 million in his possession.

Excise Narcotics Division Superintendent Prabhath Jayawickrema said that the drug dealer believed to be an expert operator over a long period was arrested over the weekend after investigations. According to Jayawickrema, at the time of the arrest the suspect had four packets containing heroin hidden inside a large bag to avoid detection.

The 35 year-old drug dealer is believed to be a resident of Pesalai. The raid conducted under the instructions of Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapuarachchi was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent Prabhath Jayawickrema. A team led by senior officials N Perera, Shirley Wijesinghe and D K Senarath took part in the raid.
