Maximum security for Jaffna residents
The people in Jaffna are provided maximum
security with 24 hour surveillance from the Army and Police, said
Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna Commander Major General Mahinda
Hathurusinghe. Several minor incidents were reported in the area
which are common all over the island, he said.

Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter rescued
46 persons from Batticaloa since Sunday evening owing to the
devastating flood situation prevailing in the area. The chopper
carried out three shuttles for the rescue mission where eight from
Tampitiya and 16 from Bogamuyaya were flown away for safety from the
flood waters which have ravaged the Batticaloa District with the
recent heavy rains.
