Maximum security for Jaffna residents



Major General Hathurusinghe

The people in Jaffna are provided maximum security with 24 hour surveillance from the Army and Police, said Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe. Several minor incidents were reported in the area which are common all over the island, he said.

Most cases were family disputes and personal issues, he said during at a briefing at the Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters.

Major General Hathurusinghe added that on the request of the people of Jaffna, the security has been further strengthened.

He said that the area covering the High Security Zone was reduced to give the city dwellers easier travel and carry out day life at freely. The Army and the Police jointly carry out night patrol while road blocks were set up at certain junctions on public request, Major General Hathurusinghe said.

He said that they will soon unmask those behind the allegations.
