Reconciliation process:

Government, TNA hold talks

The Government yesterday initiated discussions with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to assist the process of reconciliation and achieving a political solution, a statement issued by the President’s Media said yesterday.

Senior Minister of Good Governance and Infrastructure Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris and Irrigation and Water Resources Management Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva participated in the discussion on behalf of the Government while Parliamentarians Mavai Senadhirajah, Suresh Premachandran and Sumanthiran represented the Tamil National Alliance.

The two parties stressed the importance of having dialogue for the humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in the North and the East.

These two parties will act as a committee to further discussions. Galle district Parliamentarian Sajin Vas De Gunawardene will be the Secretary of this Committee, the release states.
