Confident Lankans leave for CGames
The largest Sri Lankan contingent ever to compete
in the history of Commonwealth Games will leave today and are hoping
for the best record ever. The Delhi Games will start on Sunday which
the organizers promises to be a safe, clean and the best
Commonwealth Games experience in the games’ history.

Winrow, praises Games Village
Isle of Man boxer Dominic Winrow gave a thumbs
up to the facilities in the Games Village, reports PTI. “The Village
is fantastic so far, everything is fine and the atmosphere is
special. Everybody is out training and the ground is full of
athletes. There are still a couple of things to be done but all the
facilities are world-class,” Winrow, who would be competing in the
super-heavyweight category of Delhi 2010’s boxing events, told
reporters here.

Nothing spectacular on first day
The All Island Schools Games (Track and Field)
took off successfully despite the persistent rain on the first day
at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. Nothing spectacular occurred
in the seven final events worked off after the Economic Development
Minister Basil Rajapaksa opened the biggest sports festival in the
schools extra curriculum activity.
