Wattala BC in semis

Wattala BC booked a place in the semifinals with an impressive 62 points to 52 points victory over Old Cambrians BC in their Carlton Cup 2010 inter club “B” Division basketball tournament match worked off at the Depot Police Courts in Bambalapitiya yesterday.

The winners built up a commanding 38-24 lead at half time and then consolidated their position in the second half through the efforts of Sameera Sandaruwan (14) and Jaliya Wanigasuriya (12).

Old Cambrians BC rallied around through the individual brilliance of Shehan Danushka (29) and supported well by Sudesh Nonis.

Meanwhile Old Peterites BC also joined the last four while overcoming SMI Property Developers Limited 54-48 in the fourth quarterfinal of the “B” Division tournament and played at the same venue.

Lakshan Samarasinghe (17) and Prince Andre (14) led the way with a fine all round performance for Old Peterites BC while Dane Hendricus (27) and Famil Farook (8) figured in a vain effort for SMI Property Limited.
