Incident free poll

A 55 percent voter turnout was reported in the 37 polling centres in the Nawalapitiya electorate that was subject to a repolling as part of the April 8 General Elections, according to Kandy Returning Officer Gotabhaya Jayaratne.

As re-polling began last morning in Kumburupitiya Sellai Muttusami a former teacher, 65 years said he did not vote for the past two decades because the LTTE did not allow them to vote and Tamil politicians cheated them gaining maximum out of the situation.
