Re-polling in Trinco:

Voters laud Govt for peaceful environment

As re-polling began last morning in Kumburupitiya Sellai Muttusami a former teacher, 65 years said he did not vote for the past two decades because the LTTE did not allow them to vote and Tamil politicians cheated them gaining maximum out of the situation.

”Now things have changed and peace has dawned not only for the East but for the North too. I am happy now my children are safe. I must thank President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Government for creating a peaceful environment for us to live in harmony.”

Rubi Sellam Sambandan said I have five children. I was born and bred in this village and my parents were born and bred in Jaffna.

They came to this village in 1952 and since then we have been living in this village along with Sinhala and Muslim people and we had no problems at all.

It was unfortunate there were problems in 83 even then we lived in harmony.
