Nalanda take major honours
Nalanda College grabbed major honours over their
traditional rivals Ananda College as the 81st annual Battle of the
Maroons inter school Big Match ended in a tame draw at the SSC
ground in Maitland Place yesterday. After having snatched a close 46
run first innings lead the Nalandians again produced another
splendid performance on the field to reduce their opponents to 150
for 7 in the second innings.

New Zealand edge out Sri Lanka - 3/2
Sri Lanka conceding the first and second singles
to New Zealand on Friday, in a best of five matches tie at the
National Tennis Centre Courts - stormed into contention to liven
hopes on the following day when the gallant doubles combination of
Sri Lanka, Harshana Godamanna and Rajeev Rajapakse outplayed the
Kiwi pair of Mikal Statham and Marcus Daniell to win 7/6, 6/3, 6/4
and the overall lead to be New Zealand two and Sri Lanka 1 (one).

Pasindu and Sandaruwan brothers steal the limelight
The second annual Sigiriya Rally Cross organised
by the Sri Lanka Air Force and conducted by the Sri Lanka
Association for Racing Drivers and Riders saw a successful end
yesterday at the Sigiriya Air Base Rally Cross Circuit. Young driver
Pasindu Pieris and Sandaruwan brothers Gayan and Shanuka stole the
limelight winning three events and two each on cars and bikes.
