Confidence and hope for Indo-Lanka ties

Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao who met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Janadhipathi Mandiraya yesterday congratulated the President for his resounding victory at the recent Presidential Election. She observed that so much had taken place for the better in Sri Lanka since she was last here as High Commissioner.

LTTE weapons haul recovered in North and East

Explosives and uniforms among them:

The Army and Police Special Task Force (STF) seized a haul of weapons in the North and East during search and clear operations Saturday. The troops continuing the search and clear operations in Mullaitivu, Kumulamunai, Iranamadu, Kanchilamadu, Killinochchi, Paranthan, Palai, and Adampan recovered four anti personnel mines, 17, 60mm mortar bombs, five 81 mm mortar bombs, seven unidentified bombs, eight hand grenades, 11 claymore mines, one booby trap and 11, 120 mm mortar bombs, an Army official said.
