Dinuka and Diluka enter men's doubles final

Dinuka and Diluka Karunaratne powered their way in to the finals of the men's double event of the SSC badminton championship by beating Amila Yatapana and Devendra Bandara 21/12, 21/15 yesterday. The Karunaratne brothers combined together proved to be a dominant force as they outplayed the opposition completely by beating them in straight sets.

In the other semi final match top seed Niluka Karunaratne and Eranga Fernando met R. S. Kasun and experienced doubles player Duminda Jayakody. Niluka and Eranga were severe on the attack and Niluka was using his famous smash shot a lot to gain points. Niluka and Eranga managed to take the upper hand in the first set 21/6 as it was a one sided affair. During the 2nd set when the score was 9/4, unfortunately Duminda sprained his ankle and could not continue in playing. Therefore Niluka and Eranga were given a walk over and it was a sad end for a match which was poised for an interesting finish as Duminda and Kasun were counter attacking. Niluka and Eranga Fernando will face Diluka and Dinuka Karunaratne in the finals on Thursday.

Diluka and Dinuka beat Amila Yatapana and Devendra Bandara 21/12, 21/15.

Niluka and Eranga Fernando beat R. S. Kasun and Duminda Jayakody 21/6, 9/4 Duminda sprained his ankle and conceded a walk over.
