President foiled country’s division

Under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa those who had attempted to divide the country failed. But the statements made by the Opposition candidate had only pleased the divisive forces at home and abroad, UPFA General Secretary and Education Minister Susil Premajayanth said yesterday.

Country’s reputation compromised

Mass Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said Sarath Fonseka had greatly damaged the international reputation of Sri Lanka through irresponsible statements in an interview with The Sunday Leader. Speaking in regard to the statement issued by Fonseka to The Sunday Leader, the Minister stated that Sunday Leader Editor Fredrica Jansz could not have misinterpreted the statement.
