‘The Bank of the Year’ is a highly coveted and celebrated award in the banking and financial services industry, which is also the longest running of the banking titles. The award recognizes the bank’s exceptional performance and permanence and their commitment to excellence, even during turbulent times.

Sampath Bank PLC has become a household name in Sri Lanka, not only due to the innovative, high tech banking solutions delivered in true Sri Lankan spirit, but also because of the strong bonds cultivated with many layers of the society becoming a valued partner and counsellor in uplifting the standards of the society and ensuring that sustainable development is not merely a buzz word, but a reality.

Effies honour Janashakthi

Janashakthi Insurance won a Bronze in the Corporate Reputation / Professional Services at the recent Effie Awards Sri Lanka 2009. Janashakthi thus becomes the only insurance company to be honoured with an Effie award.

Janashakthi Insurance General Manager, Sales and Marketing Ravi Liyanage said, “We’re both proud and happy to enjoy this winning streak in 2009, especially since this is our 15th anniversary year. Just as with all the other awards we’ve won locally and internationally, this too is an unequivocal endorsement by the people of Sri Lanka”.

MastersDDB Joint Managing Director, Dharshini Thambiah, which did the award winning campaign said, “We are grateful to have been given this opportunity to partner Janashakthi Insurance in their IPO.

This was no ordinary advertising campaign. It was held at a time when the Stock Market was low, during which time we said - The Time is Now. We believe that still holds true for Janashakthi Insurance”.

Almost a month prior to this, Janashakthi won dual honours at the glittering 18th World Brand Congress Ceremony for Brand Excellence with the prestigious “Award for Brand Leadership - Service Industry” and the “Award for Social Marketing”. This achievement was hailed internationally as a singular endorsement of its endeavour in brand building and brand management efforts.

According to IDC Asia Pacific Personal Systems Research Director Bryan Ma, “The consumer notebook market is red hot right now. Thin and attractively priced Notebooks have the potential to resonate with consumers in Asia and become a major driver for the overall PC market in the process”.

HP is well positioned to take advantage of this growth with its portfolio of thin and light notebooks that address both the business and consumer’s computing needs.
