Uruguay to host MERCOSUR Summit
Uruguay: The 28th Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) Summit will be
held on December 8 in Uruguay, where President Tabare Vazquez will hand
over the bloc's temporary chairmanship to his Argentine counterpart
Cristina Fernandez.
MERCOSUR sources informed on Wednesday that the foreign and economy
ministers will meet the day before at the Montevideo headquarters.
Established on March 26, 1991 with the signing of the Asuncion Treaty,
MERCOSUR is a customs association grouping Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay,
and Uruguay.
Venezuela's inclusion is still pending. Bolivia and Chile are
associate members, as well as the members of the Andean Community of
