New surveillance system for SEC:
Amendments to SEC Act
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has
submitted amendments to Sections 03, 13 and 55 of the SEC Act and is
waiting for the final approval from the Speaker. The amendments of
the Act are to provide indirect and direct directives to the listed
companies in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), the Securities and
Exchange Commission Director General Channa de Silva said.

winter season to a dozen cities throughout Europe, the Middle East,

Export earnings on upward trend
The trade deficit contracted for the eighth
consecutive month in August 2009 by 76.9 percent to US dollars 116
million, recording the third lowest trade deficit during the last
five years.
