Indices down

Declines in the prices of large cap stocks brought down the indices at the Colombo Stock Exchange with the more sensitive MPI losing 151 points (-4.34 percent) to close at 3,327.

The broader market index the ASPI lost 100 points (-3.24 percent) to close at 2983. Total market turnover was Rs 764 million yesterday.

Price declines were seen in John Keells Holdings down Rs 8.00 to end at Rs 140.00, Sri Lanka Telecom down Rs 0.75 to 44.25, Carsons Cumberbatch PLC down Rs.19.50 to Rs 335.75, Hatton National Bank, down Rs 12.50 to Rs 156.50, Commercial Bank down Rs 6.75 to Rs 180.25 and Distilleries Company down Rs 4.25 to Rs 99.75.
