NCPA to launch Child Rights Convention in braille

For the first time in Sri Lankan history an International Convention
will be launched in braille.
The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) will launch the Child
Rights Convention (CRC) in braille to mark the International Children's
Day falls on October 1, N
CPA spokesman said.
He said the NCPA will also launch the CRC in sign language for the
benefit of deaf children.
The CRC will be launched as a video which shows the convention sign
language.
According to statistics of the NCPA it is blind and deaf children who
mostly subjected to child exploitation.
According to the spokesman, the CRC which will come in braille mode
and in sign language will educate children on child exploitation, what
they should do to avoid being abused and the steps that should be taken
when a child get abused.
In addition the NCPA will promote CRC and child friendly messages
among children through exercise books produced by Weerodara, a private
company.
A book on Law related to child adoption, child custody etc. will also
be launched.
The NCPA will celebrate the International Children's Day on October 2
at Blind School, Ratmalana with the participation of blind and deaf
children.
Medical camps, entertainment programs will take place during the
ceremony, he said.
