Stroke Association office-bearers

Consultant Neurologist of the National Hospital Dr. Padma Gunaratne was elected President at the recently held AGM of the National Stroke Association.

Dr. M.T.M. Riffsy, Dr. Udaya Ranawaka and Tissa Bandaranayake were elected Vice Presidents. Dr. Harsha Gunasekera was elected Secretary and Mrs. Rosanne Warnakulasuriya as Assistant Secretary. M.U. de Silva was named Treasurer and Daya Abeysekera and Dr. Arjuna Fernando as Joint Editors.

A seven member council comprising Dr. Preethi Wijegunawardene, Dr. Lalith Wijeratne, Prema Cooray, Rienzie T. Wijetilleke, Baron De Livera, Dr. Lal Panapitiya and Dr. Sepalika Mendis were also elected.

Dr. J.B. Peiris is the patron of the National Stroke Association and Dr. Jagath Wijesekera is the vice patron. Consultant Endocrinologist, National Hospital Sri Lanka Dr. Noel Somasundaran delivered the guest lecture on ‘Diseases of modern times’.
