Security strengthened in Angulana

Security has been intensified in Angulana after an unidentified group set fire to a house following Thursday's clash between residents and police. Sources said the residents of Angulana had set fire to a house that belonged to a woman suspected to be the mistress of the former OIC of Angulana police station, T. Jeevi Newton.

Suicide jacket, arms found in Vavuniya

Police found a suicide jacket and arms following a tip-off in Vavuniya on Thursday evening, police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said. A special police team from Vavuniya on information from an LTTE suspect, recovered the suicide jacket, three timers, three remote control devices, three antennas and a metal plate."The explosives were hidden opposite Nelli Star Hotel in Vavuniya," he added.
