Career guidance program

The Sri Lanka Medical Association will hold a career guidance program for Junior Medical Officers on Sunday, July 19 at the Lionel Memorial Auditorium in Colombo.

The program which comprises five sessions will commence at 8.30 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

The sessions will be chaired by Prof. Rezvi Sheriff (President SLMA), Dr. Lucian Jayasuriya, Dr. Vajira Dissanayake, Dr. Indika Karunatilleka and Dr. Ruvaiz Hannifa.

Among those who will speak at the sessions will be Prof. Colvin Goonaratna, Prof. Rani Fernando and Prof. A.R. Wickremasinghe.


Lecture

An illustrated lecture on Swine Flu by Dr. S. Rajhkumar, MBBS followed by a special healing meditation will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 5.30 p.m. at the Harmony Hall, 55, Peters Lane, Dehiwela. Admission is free. All are welcome. For further information please contact 011-2717572.


Badur Mowlood

The recital of Badur Mowlood will be conducted by Al Haj Moulavi M.T. Hillurudeen (Falahi) and Al Haj Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) from July 9 after Magrib prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Prayers, lectures

The program will commence on Sunday, July 12 with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Moulavi A.B.M. Mubarak (Falahi) and Y.M. Rafi. It will be conducted after Magrib prayers and it will continue till Isha prayers.

A religious lecture will also be conducted by Ashsheikh Dr. P.C. Pakkeer Jaufar Ph.D. (Simon Fraser, Canada), (Head/Department of Special Needs Education), Open University of Sri Lanka and an eminent Ulama after Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


Change of venue

The venue for the service of 'Praise and Worship' which is conducted every second Sunday of the month at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour under the umbrella of the Ministry of Peace for All has been changed. For this month only, it will be held this Sunday, July 12 at 10.30 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, Borella (opposite Aquinas) Maradana Road, Colombo 8.


Artificial limbs to 10 war heroes

Artificial limbs to the value of Rs. 125,000 each will be donated to 10 war heroes in the Kalutara District by Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama at 3.00 p.m. on July 11 at the Matugama Divisional Secretariat.
