Down Memory Lane Bertie FERNANDO
Whenever I visit that grand old place
And traverse on those ever familiar roads
Amidst gleaming white structures
I still search restlessly
For those dare-devil
Lean young boys
With their mischievous smiles
Who marched with me, and ran beside me
With the first rays of the sun
On our backs
A couple of decades after
Whenever I visit, I see them
The future Fonseka,s, Gotabhaya's,
Karannagoda's and Weerasekera's
Emerging along the foot paths
Set by their illustrious predecessors
of yesteryear
I see the future defenders, of our
Nation Where else Ananda
