Gallant Anandians to the fore
Ananda College, the premier Buddhist educational institution in the
country, has rendered a yeoman service to the Nation. Firmly rooted in
Buddhist traditions, Ananda inculcates moral values in all her students.
There is no greater meritorious deed than developing the human mind to
act in accordance with moral values, says Acting Principal Lal
Dissanayake.
He said: "Anandians have always been patriotic. Their love for the
Motherland led many of them to join the Security Forces and the Police.
Gallant Anandians have once again been at the forefront of defending
the Nation from the scourge of terrorism which continued unabated for
nearly 30 years. These valiant sons of Ananda have risked their lives in
the battlefield to secure an unprecedented victory for all Sri Lankans.
Among the hundreds of Anandians who contributed to this historic
victory are Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, Defence Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka, Navy
Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and Civil Security Force Chief
Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara. Their services to the Motherland cannot
be measured in conventional terms.
All Anandians young and old were with them in their hearts and minds
throughout the campaign to end to LTTE terrorism.
Our tribute also goes to all principals and teachers at Ananda who
moulded these warriors. As the Acting Principal of Ananda College, I am
extremely proud that Anandians have led the battle to eliminate
terrorism and succeeded triumphantly."
