Eastern province hotels to be upgraded
With the dawn of peace the Eastern province is to
have more hotels to develop the tourism industry in the country.
Coordinator for Tourism Development in the Eastern Region,
A.M.Jaufer said there are nearly 1000 hotel rooms existing in the
Eastern province. These hotels are located in Nilaveli, Batticaloa,
Arugam Bay, Passikudah and Ampara.

Diversification of Oasis Hospital
The Oasis Hospital (Pvt) Ltd., Colombo will
diversify into the medical education industry with the setting up of
a private medical school at a cost of Rs. one billion for those who
could not obtain sufficient z-score to enter a Government Medical

LHP to launch cost-saving houses
Lankan Hume Pipes Company (Pvt) Ltd., (LHP) will
introduce 60 percent cost saving houses that can be completed in one
day with only four workers. Managing Director Jayantha Kumara said
that a two bed roomed house of 1200sq ft will cost only Rs1.2
million for the buyers. Ten model houses will be built in Colombo
and nearby areas for display initially targeting the employees in
the garment sector, he said.
