French tour operators on familiarization tour

Six tour operators from France and a journalist from the French Travel Trade Magazine L' Echo Touristique were in Sri Lanka this month on a familiarization tour. Sri Lanka Tourism hosted them to a tour around Sri Lanka, which included the Cultural Triangle, hill country and the Deep South.

As part of their PR strategy, Sri Lanka Tourism has launched familiarization tours for tour operators as well as journalists not only from the keys markets, but also from non-traditional markets. The aim of these tours is to show the world through the eyes of the journalists and the tour operators, the splendours of Sri Lanka.

The tour operators are well known and well established in France but still new to Sri Lanka.

The familiarization tour was mainly to educate them on what Sri Lanka has to offer and for them to experience the diverse aspects of our destination so that in turn they can educate French tourists and encourage tourists to visit Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Tourism would have achieved its goal if all these Tour Operators decide to feature our destination in their brochures next season.
