North to get 21 police stations

As part of establishing civil administration in the North after eradicating terrorism, the Police Department is to set up 21 police stations in the North and a Tamil language training centre for police personnel in Kilinochchi.

Missing girl’s body found

A girl who was abducted by an unidentified suspect was found dead yesterday morning dumped in a thicket in Kasamduwa, Mihintale. Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said W. Lakshani Gunaratne (6) disappeared on Saturday morning from her residence in Kasamaduwa while she was playing.

Bill to appoint Chief of Defence Staff

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake yesterday presented a Bill to Parliament to appoint a Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who shall be responsible for the coordination of activities between the Armed Forces and the Defence Ministry and for the establishment of the Committee of the CDS.
