Tokyo Cement held its Annual Dealer Convention at the Colombo Hilton recently, hosting dealers from across the length and breadth of the country and introducing their all new brand, Nippon Cement.

A surprise draw was also held for all invitees with attractive prizes.

Joint Managing Director Tokyo Cement PLC, Gnanam said that the theme for this year’s convention was ‘Reaching Out’. “This is what my father, the late A.Y.S. Gnanam initiated and inculcated in all of us, to manage business successfully whilst striving to reach out to the people by creating employment opportunities and offering customers good quality products at affordable prices”.

Gnanam said that the company channels into its dealer community in a bid to enhance their status and help them consolidate their businesses.

The organization provides mid-day meals to three schools with under privileged children in Trincomalee, Lewla, Gurudeniya and Bandaragama, has built 25 houses and a community centre for tsunami victims in Trincomalee with plans in the offing to build 25 more homes in this area, and continues to contribute to the construction industry by manufacturing high quality products that are SLS certified.

The company had achieved its vision of being a key player in national development, where high profile projects such as Trillium Residencies, the Katunayake Airport, Upper Kotmale Power Plant, Hambantota Harbour and Arugam Bay Bridge used their brands of cement in construction, and where the company also serves as supplier to projects such as the Norrochcholai power project and the southern highway.

“The last three years have seen us become market leaders in our country with phenomenal growth. We achieved this success with the support of our dealers through hard work, commitment and passion, and I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dealer family for the role they played in helping us get where we are today,” Gnanam said.
