Hailing War Heroes

Hospital staff's good gesture:

The staff of Dambulla base hospital have rendered a commendable act by commemorating fallen war heroes and honouring those who are in the battle field.

They have st up a park called 'Ranaviru Udyanaya' (a park of War Heroes) in the hospital premises and ceremonially handed it over to the forces for its maintenance.

The officials of the Air Force camp of Sigiriya and the Kohalanwela Army Camp participated in the event along with the hospital staff.

To commemorate all War Heroes an oil lamp is lit in the park round the clock. A memorial plaque was also unveiled for the War Heroes.

The parents and relatives of war heroes in the area attended the event on invitation. A mother of a fallen war hero G. G. Wimalawathie unveiled the memorial plaque. Her son S. G. Wijesiri sacrificed his life at the battlefront in defence of the country.

Chandrani Weerasinghe, sister of a fallen war hero lit the lamp.
