Outsiders and organisations not allowed to enter Vavuniya IDP camp
The Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Ministry requested
individuals and organisations to refrain from entering nor request
permission to enter the Manikfarm Village so that defence officials
working for the betterment of the civilians are able to work without
hindrance.
Many organisations and individuals had requested permission from the
Ministry for authorisation to enter the Vavuniya, Manikfarm IDP welfare
village.
However, officials working within the camp have informed the Ministry
that due to persons from outside many problems arise hindering their
progress.
Due to this, it has been decided that outsiders and Organisations
will not be permitted to enter the Manikfarm IDP welfare village under
any circumstances, the Ministry stated in a release.
The Ministry requested all organisations and individuals to refrain
from seeking permission to enter Vavuniya IDP camps.
A significant victory was marked on April 20, 2009 with the 58
Division Troops destroying the LTTE terrorists hold on the innocent
civilians who were held as human shields.
Thousands of civilians arrived at Government controlled areas
subsequent to troops' efforts and it should be stated that many
individuals and organisations extended their support in numerous ways to
aid these civilians during their hour of need.
The Government has taken adequate steps to ensure the welfare of the
displaced persons and procedures at the Vavuniya Manikfarm IDP Village
is proceeding satisfactorily.
