Trinco Hospital to be upgraded

Americares International, an American NGO and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide Rs. 500 million to upgrade Trincomalee General Hospital. The funds were granted on a request by Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva during his recent visit to the USA, Health Ministry spokesman said.

He said the Trincomalee General Hospital destroyed by the tsunami will receive a three storeyed ward complex with 350 beds. The design phase of the project is expected to be completed by December this year.

The construction will be commenced in January next year. Americares are utilizing funds donated through the generosity of American citizens and corporations.
