SLT forms subsidiary

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) announced the formation of its new
subsidiary, SLT Publications (Pvt) Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Sri
Lanka Telecom at the event.
Chairperson, SLT, Leisha de Silva Chandrasena said that SLT’s
management had reviewed its business activities with a view to making
them efficient, productive, profitable and customer-focused and hence
decided to incorporate the subsidiary companies, based on SLT’s non core
business activities; Directory services being one of them.
The directory publishing department, popularly known as Rainbow Pages
will henceforth be functioning as SLT Publications (Pvt) Ltd, she said.
General Manager SLT Publications (PVT) Ltd L P M P Balapitiya said
“the new entity will focus on a broader market segment which is not
restricted merely to the Sri Lanka Telecom customer base, but the entire
telephone user segment.
He said that as per the Telecommunications Regulatory Act, Sri Lanka
Telecom has to publish and distribute directories to its entire customer
base and this distribution covers every nook and corner of the country.
Apart from directory publishing the new entity will leverage its
strong backing of the telecom giant-Sri Lanka Telecom.
