Cycle Bazaar - 60 years old
Don Marshall Hettiarachchi, together with his wife Orlin Cecelia
ventured into the bicycle trade in 1947. With determination, unflagging
energy and charisma to back him, he built up Sri Lanka's largest chain
of bicycle stores - Cycle Bazaar.

He went on to form the conglomerate of companies known as the
Hettiarachchi Group.
The Hettiarachchi Group has stood strong in the Sri Lankan community
for 60 years. He was bestowed the National Honour of Lanka Tilaka for
being a pioneer businessman. Hettiarachchi, the only son of Don Marshall
Hettiarachchi took over the reins of the Hettiarachchi Group 25 years
ago. Since then, Cycle Bazaar has expanded to encompass a network of
distributors islandwide.
The company has evolved with the changing times but one thing stays
the same. For the past 60 years, Cycle Bazaar has remained a household
name.
Cycle Bazaar is synonymous with its flagship brand Kenstar. Both
names stand for superior quality and a level of excellence in customers
service. Kenstr bicycles include BMX bicycles, Mountain bicycles and a
range of ladies' and children's bicycles.
Hettiarachchi says that three major factors have always supported the
business to remain in the forefront. "Firstly, we have a superior
product. Kenstar is a brand that is synonymous with quality and with
remain so. Many banks and Blue chip companies use Kenstar bicycles for
their gift schemes.
Cycle Bazaar's goal for the future is to remain a household name for
bicycles. |
