Adawatte achieves No. 1 spot in Uva
ISO 22000 and HACCP certified Adawatte tea estate, Lunugala achieves
the number one spot in Uva high and medium grown elevations, which has
above 100 tea processing centres/selling marks, by achieving a nett
sales average of Rs. 304/10, for the season Jan-Dec 2007.
It is the first estate in history of Uva to record a NSA of above Rs.
300 for a calendar year.
The estate has also established 98 top prices with one all time high
record at the Colombo weekly tea auctions in 2007.
Adawatte Estate is led by Superintendent, Shamil Perera and Assistant
Superintendent Manoj Pathiranage. The marketing is handled by Finlays.
Adawatte is managed by Finlays Tea Estates Sri Lanka and the official
brokers for the estate is John Keells PLC.
Indices slump
Given the day's trading commenced late at 11.10 a.m, the market lost
grounds and both indices ended up in red.
The ASPI slumped 21.85 points or 0.87% to close the day at 2488.55
whilst MPI shed 25.19 points or 0.78% to finish at 3195.00 CSD proved to
be the pick of the day after 1.09mn shares changed hands within a price
range of Rs. 8.00 to Rs.9.00 DIAL, SLTL and AMSL were the other top
trades volume wise with 0.75mn, 0.44mn and 0.31mn shares been traded for
the day.
Turnover for the day registered at Rs. 216.92mn.
CTHR dominated the days turnover with Rs. 89.0mn.
The counter traded at a high of Rs. 3,000 and a low of Rs. 2,900
before closing at Rs. 2,966.75 HNB, Dialog and Sri Lanka Telecom
followed turnover wise with Rs. 16.4mn, Rs. 14.3mn and Rs. 13.6mn
respectively.
Price losers outnumbered gainers numbering 83 and 43 respectively.
Foreigners were heavier on the buying side yesterday, bringing the
net inflow for the day to Rs. 40.4mn |
