High demand for Lankan tea this year

The demand for Sri Lankan tea this year would increase from Commonwealth of Independent States countries and Middle-Eastern markets, industry sources said. There will be strong demand for Sri Lankan tea in the first two months of this year as a result of world's largest tea exporter Kenya experiencing civil riots.

Laugfs ventures into solid tyre market

Laugfs Gas Holdings will invest a further Rs. 800 million to enter the international solid tyre market this year. "There is growing global demand for solid tyres and this was the reason for us to enter this market," said Chairman Managing Director Laugfs, W. A. Wegapitiya said.
