In a major breakthrough, Police have identified a prime suspect in the murder of two Red Cross volunteers whose bullet-ridden bodies were found in Kiriella following their abduction in Colombo on June 1.

Azerbaijani help for oil exploration

Sri Lanka and Azerbaijan are exploring enhanced cooperation in the oil sector including exploration and crude oil purchasing, reports from Baku said. Petroleum Minister A.H.M. Fowzie has reported that Sri-Lanka is interested in importing of crude oil from Azerbaijan, one of the leading oil producers in the world.

French court extends detention of 14 LTTE suspects

The French court has decided to extend the period of detention of all 14 key LTTE suspects who were arrested on April 1, 2007 for a further period four months till the first week of December 2007, when they were produced to the courts in the first week of August.
