Grenade launcher found in Tiger boat

JAFFNA: An LTTE boat fixed with an eight Horse Power Out Board Motor was observed by a Navy patrol craft moving about half a nautical mile in the strip of sea off Manalkadu coast, Point Pedro, early yesterday.

When the Navy patrol craft moved into check, the LTTE boat fired at the Navy craft. The Navy retaliated taking the LTTE boat into custody. In addition to a body with a cyanide capsule, the Navy recovered a 40mm Grenade Launcher with nine rounds, a GPS and two SMG magazines.

In another incident, in the Point Pedro sea area an LTTE terrorist attempting to infiltrate into the Point Pedro beach area, Jaffna, was shot by the Army. The body and a claymore mine in the possession of the terrorist was recovered during a search operation conducted by the Army after the incident.
