Security Forces personnel render a thankless service, manning checkpoints to ensure the protection of all and fighting the enemy on the battlefield. This little girl, a Year 5 student at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, was earlier at Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya, Ampara where she had seen for herself the sacrifices made by members of the Security Forces. She always wanted to express her gratitude to them. Her wish finally came true yesterday, when she presented a floral bouquet to the soldiers at a checkpoint near her school. Govt to launch 'Buy Sri Lankan' campaign

Boost for local products:

 The Government will shortly launch a Ganna Ape De (Buy Sri Lankan goods) campaign to popularise local products. The programme is being implemented by the Mawbima Lanka Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Industrial Development and the Strategic Enterprise Management Agency.

LTTE claymore attack kills 7 civilians

Targets STF truck in a crowded city:

The LTTE exploded a claymore mine at Ratmalana last evening killing seven civilians and wounding 37 others including six STF personnel. The bomb went off around 5.40 p.m. as an STF truck went past Belekkade Junction, Ratmalana where the claymore was planted, on a roof of a closed down shop. The truck veered off the road with the impact of the blast.
