MATALE: Vocational and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage promised to allocate Rs. 89.5 million for the development of the Matale Technical College which has been set up on a 5- acre plot of land in Matale town.

The Minister gave this assurance when he opened a new building costing Rs. 4.5 million at the Matale Technical College recently. The Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new two-storeyed building costing Rs. 85 million on this day.

Addressing the meeting which followed Gamage said the Government in spite of its heavy defence expenditure had taken steps to systematically fulfil the pledges held out in the Mahinda Chintana.

His Ministry had also streamlined the Vocational and Technical Training Centre to issue an internationally approved certificate to candidates completing Vocational Training Courses and Master their contribution towards the national development effort. This would help transform their talents into employability.

Gamage said after developing the Matale Technical College with modern physical resources steps would be taken to restructure the 4 Training Courses conducted there to suit the needs of this area.
