Vakarai students on educational tour

VAKARAI: Sixty two students from Vakarai are on a four day educational tour to the south. The tour ends today.

The students spent three days in Colombo and visited several important places. They visited the famous shrine of St. Anthony's in Kochchikade on May 26 while on Sunday, they visited the Zoological Gardens. They visited the Ratmalana Hindu College yesterday and went on a sightseeing tour in Colombo. A musical show was conducted for the students in the evening.

They will leave for Kandy today to visit the Botanical Gardens and will end their educational tour after visiting the Dalada Maligawa and the ancient Hindu Kovil in Kandy. Twenty two students from Vigneshwaran School, Vakarai and 40 students from Palchenai are participating in the educational tour. Seva Lanka Organisation, Security Forces Headquarters (East) and the Ettambagoda Vihara Chief Incumbent Ven. Deshakeerthi Kalyanatissa Thera jointly organised the tour.

The Army and Seva Lanka Organisation are providing food and accommodation to the students.

The tour was arranged as a confidence building measure with the people in south as well as to forge understanding with both parties.

This is the second tour undertaken by students of Vakarai since the area was liberated by the Security Forces.
