Vakarai students on educational tour

VAKARAI: Sixty two students from Vakarai are on a four day
educational tour to the south. The tour ends today.
The students spent three days in Colombo and visited several
important places. They visited the famous shrine of St. Anthony's in
Kochchikade on May 26 while on Sunday, they visited the Zoological
Gardens. They visited the Ratmalana Hindu College yesterday and went on
a sightseeing tour in Colombo. A musical show was conducted for the
students in the evening.
They will leave for Kandy today to visit the Botanical Gardens and
will end their educational tour after visiting the Dalada Maligawa and
the ancient Hindu Kovil in Kandy. Twenty two students from Vigneshwaran
School, Vakarai and 40 students from Palchenai are participating in the
educational tour. Seva Lanka Organisation, Security Forces Headquarters
(East) and the Ettambagoda Vihara Chief Incumbent Ven. Deshakeerthi
Kalyanatissa Thera jointly organised the tour.
The Army and Seva Lanka Organisation are providing food and
accommodation to the students.
The tour was arranged as a confidence building measure with the
people in south as well as to forge understanding with both parties.
This is the second tour undertaken by students of Vakarai since the
area was liberated by the Security Forces. |
