Customs seize love portion, jewellery
Customs units in Galle and Katunayake made two quite different, but equally startling detections over the weekend. The Galle preventive office of the Customs came across a snake and a scorpion. They were dead, of course, and in a bottle of spirits. It was found in the possession of a Filipino sailor who transited through Galle. Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport were dazzled by smuggled jewellery worth Rs. 7.1 million, which included a diamond-studded ring and a necklace. The culprit was a Sri Lankan travelling from Singapore.
