by Indika Perera Anuradhapura has been identified as one of the priority areas for the Government's Sanwardhana Sangramaya (Development Drive), with Rs.100 million being allocated for the district. The islandwide program based on a concept of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, will start from the Anuradhapura district on October 22. Among the development projects lined up for Anuradhapura are a Dhamma Hall for pilgrims, an arts centre, a new bus stand and a village reawakening program under the Samurdhi Ministry. The Dhamma hall can accommodate up to 3,000 pilgrims. Several programs initiated by the North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) parallel to these projects will also be started on the same day. These include a new auditorium/chamber for the NCPC. |
