by Nimal Rajapakse Railway security personnel of Kandy yesterday handed over six hostellers of a leading national boys' school in Kandy, who had fled the hostel in the night as they were unable to tolerate the sexual advances of the hostel warden. The six boys were found waiting at the railway station around 1.30 a.m. on the 18th when they were accosted by the security personnel. On information provided by the six students, the warden was taken into custody by the Kandy police. The students have told the Railway security officers, that the warden used to harass them persistently and whenever they refused, he used to slip cigarette butts under their pillows and assault them with an s-lon pipe by way of punishment. The boys are in Grade 10 between the ages of 16 and 17 years. On information furnished by the students the Railway security officers have contacted the parents of the children after handing them over to the police. They are from the areas of Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya, Pilimatalawa and Polonnaruwa. |
