SYDNEY, Wednesday (AFP) - Less than three years after Australian
athletics icon Cathy Freeman lit the flame at the opening ceremony of the
Sydney Olympics, and then capped it by taking the 400m crown, she
extinguished her glittering career on Wednesday by retiring.
