Baghdad pounded from the air, US insists 'war is on track'

BAGHDAD, Friday (AFP,Reuters) - US-led forces pounded Baghdad and other cities Friday with punishing strikes from the air and consolidated positions on the ground as Washington insisted the Iraq war was "on track" despite resistance.

EU to co-chair Tokyo donor conference

The European Union yesterday formally agreed to become the fourth co-chair at the upcoming Tokyo donor conference. The decision brings in fifteen more nations within the EU determined to support aid for Sri Lanka at a crucial time in the peace process.
