The Thirukatheeswaram Sivan Temple in Mannar is an old shrine worshipped by the Hindus. It is a miracle that it was not damaged during the NE war. It is now abandoned without any religious activities as it is in the war zone area. Hindu Cultural Minister T. Maheswaran has promised to bring the temple area to normalcy. Recently the Minister visited this area with the G. A. Vavuniya Mannar and some devotees. (Vavuniya special corr. S. Vivekarasa)


PM slashes Ministerial perks

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday drastically slashed Ministerial perks relating to official cars and housing. He also curtailed publicity for Ministers in the State media.
