The Sri Lanka Navy in association with the Coast Conservation Department held a tree planting campaign along the Wellawatte coast yesterday to mark National Tree Planting
Day today. Here Commander T.G.M. Weeraratne of the Wellawatte Naval Station watering a sapling he planted to launch the campaign. Director General Coast Conservation Department Dr. Anil Premaratne was also present on the occasion. Dehiwala, Koralawella South, Moratuwa, Moratuwella, Kalutara Kalido Beach along the Southern Coast and the coastline North of Colombo upto Sarakkukanda has been identified for the tree planting campaign by the Navy under a programme to set up a green belt along the coastline.
